Lake Beleu is the largest natural lake in Moldova, located in the Cahul district in the south of the country, within the Prutul de Jos scientific reserve. It is an ancient relic of the Danube Delta, 5-6 thousand years old, known for its rich bird fauna, especially pelicans, and waterfowl, making it an important site for naturalists and ornithologists.
