The Soroca Fortress, located on the banks of the Dniester, was built in the 15th century by order of Stefan the Great to protect the northern borders of Moldova. The fortress has the shape of a perfect circle with five towers and was one of the key fortresses of the defensive system of Moldova. Today, the Soroca Fortress is a symbol of medieval military architecture and a popular tourist attraction.
