The library's mission is to collect, preserve, promote and make accessible the documentary and intellectual heritage of Kosovo. The library also hosts exhibitions, maintains archives of national newspapers and provides a range of other services. It is known for its unique history and the controversial style of its building, designed by Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjakovic.
