"Maksimir" is the main park in the central part of Zagreb. Just 10 minutes' drive from the railway station, you can stroll along the alleys with centuries-old trees, take a rest in the shade of spreading acacias, breathe in the air filled with the scent of pine needles, and watch wild birds. The green island was ordered to be created in 1794 by the Zagreb bishop Maksimilian Vrhovac, and the park was named in his honor.
