Located off the southwestern coast of the country, stretched from the city of Turku and extended toward the Åland Islands in the Baltic Sea. It consisted of over 20,000 islands and they’ve have been a key part of Finland’s maritime history since the medieval era. They’re home to around 40,000 residents but they also attract thousands of tourists each year.
