One of the most magical natural locations is Macocha Abyss, which according to a local legend about a stepmother and stepson is known as the ‘Stepmother Abyss’. The mother remarried and had a child of her own but did not want the boys to compete, so she led the stepson deep into the forest. She lured him to the gorge and asked him to search for berries, where she pushed him into the abyss.

The Punkva Caves are an incredible network of caves and underground rivers part of the Amaterska Cave, the longest cave system in the country. The caves stretch for more than 30 km (19 miles) and possibly further as there may be many more undiscovered caves within the system.
